Hello!
We are happy unbirthday (hUb), a two-person art unit that fashions newspaper dresses and performs/strolls in them throughout the city. We have held these guerilla stages across Japan, in 7 prefectures and a total of 15 different cities.
This time, we are planning a collaboration project with a San Francisco, U.S.-based artist William Wang and are thinking to bring together our newspaper dresses with his paper art in a film.
William Wang is a designer and artist working with paint and paper. He is interested in urban spaces, drawing inspiration in his works from cities around the world and places he has lived. His works have been exhibited/ collected in both the United States and Japan. He recently had a solo exhibit in Little Tokyo in Los Angeles this April.
The happy unbirthday (hUb) and William Wang (hUb x WW) collaboration project recently received a grant from the Energia Culture and Sports Foundation to film throughout the 5 prefectures of the Chugoku Region in Japan (Hiroshima, Tottori, Shimane, Yamaguchi and Okayama). We are planning to travel through the capitals of each prefecture filming both the tourist attractions and the everyday life of each city. We are also hoping for more and more involvement from the local community to create a documentary-style film with people in the region. So, for those of you in the Chugoku Region, please contact us if you are interested in making this film with us!
While we were able to receive the grant, we were only awarded 100,000 yen (roughly 1,000 USD). This is, of course, not enough to call William to Japan and make our trip through the 5 prefectures. (Please see below for an explanation of necessary expenses)
So, we need your help! We have planned many rewards for pledges starting from 500 yen, so if you could please help support our project, we would greatly appreciate any help we can get!
We plan to hold showings of the completed film in the 5 prefectures of the Chugoku Region and in Los Angeles, etc. in the United States!
Please help support our project to bring together these Japanese and American artists to create a new world of paper performance and sculpture and foster an exchange of culture and art!

Places: The 5 prefectures of the Chugoku Region (Tottori, Shimane, Okayama, Hiroshima and Yamaguchi)
